Citizen is often forgotten and underappreciated in the world of vintage watches as they’re often overlooked by the more priced Seiko’s and Swiss watch brands, but this 1977 Citizen REF: 71-2639 proves that Citizen as a whole deserves a whole lot more recognition. 

This watch features a stunning gray sunburst dial that is paired with gold toned indices and hands for great contrast.

Powering this watch is the 21-jewel 8200 in-house movement that provides fantastic reliability, good accuracy and a day-date in both Mandarin and English with quick-set for convenience. 

Housing this watch is a sleek steel case that gently sits on the wrist.

Size: 36mm diameter (37mm with crown), 11mm height, 18mm lug width. 

Condition: In good condition with a reliced feel. 

Movement condition: The movement was serviced in September of 2025  and is currently running within 30 per day, amplitude of 230-240 and a beat error of .3-0.5MS. 



This watch comes with a 60-day limited mechanical warranty. 

Warranty does not cover damage inflicted post sale.

What Does 'Serviced' Mean?

All watches marked as ‘serviced’ have undergone full disassembly, inspection, repairs if needed, cleaning, reassembly, lubrication, and timing adjustments to ensure the watch is running to the best of its capability.

Free shipping within the USA on all orders $149 and up. Your order will be shipped out within 1-2 business days after order confirmation.

Returns are allowed within 7 calendar days with the day of delivery counting as one.

International Orders: All shipping costs, duties, and other taxes associated with importing a timepiece are the buyer's responsibility.

Warranty

All of our watches are inspected and serviced if required to function to the best of its capabilities. However please do note that vintage watches are susceptible to slight accuracy deviations and will not be as precise as modern timing equipment.

Due to the nature of vintage watches there may be signs of wear and cosmetic imperfections not to be considered as defects.

We do not offer any guarantees in regards to water resistance unless stated. Do not submerge your watch in water or expose it to high humidity conditions.

Care Instructions

Do not submerge watch underwater, expose to humidity & avoid labor intensive jobs while wearing the watch.

Well Worn
Birth Year watch at a great price

The watch arrived exactly as pictured and described. Runs great- began ticking right out of the well packaged shipping material - you'd never know it was as old as me! I might choose to replace the crystal and/or the band down the line, but the current choices are part of the charm and totally in line with my expectations at this price.

Fascinatingly and somewhat amusingly, I was recently vintage watch shopping in Japan, looking at watches infinitely more expensive than this one, and yet repeatedly received questions and comments about this watch and its incredible dial!

Overall, it feels like a great hidden gem find and brings me great joy, as much if not more than some of my watches that cost 10x the price.
