[Serviced] USA 1944 Waltham WW2 Issued Field Wrist-Watch

This Waltham was produced in 1944 during the midst of the bloodiest conflict in human history. While watches are certainly handy, especially when you forget your phone, they are absolutely vital in war. When having access to accurate & reliable time can mean life or death you don’t want to take your chances on a substandard pin-lever movement, and the US government certainly knew that. 

The life of a US military watch begins not in a cozy Swiss alp workshop, but rather in a formal and all too bureaucratic government office where the parameters for a war appropriate watch are sketched up. 

Following the parameters for acceptance, companies are then able to submit their designs and if approved will begin production for the US military. 

However, let’s talk more about this watch in specific. While military issued watches cannot be too creative in their designs for obvious reasons they certainly do carry a special type of charm. 

The dial on this watch is simply amazing, long ago were the days when this watch was plain white as it now resembles a smore due to the patina caused by the radium. The hands are heat treated to turn into a wonderful blue color and the pumpkin lume is simply to die for.

Powering this watch is a highly reliable USA made Waltham 6/0 42 17-jewel hand-wound movement that provides excellent accuracy and reliability.

Housing this watch is the definition of a tool watch, this watch forgoes any notion of decadence in favor of a plated case that does its job with pride.

Condition: Being a military issued watch, this watch certainly is far from mint with noticeable marks of usage however if you ask us we feel that it adds charm that cannot be duplicated.

Size: 31mm diameter (34mm with crown), 11mm height, 16mm lug to lug width. 

Movement condition: The movement was serviced in July of 2024 and is currently running at ±6-11 seconds per day, and an amplitude of 300.

This watch comes with a 60 day limited mechanical warranty.
